Recently listed on the Billboard Charts top 80 artists to watch in 2024, this presentation will be the latest collection of Lyric Fusion Poetry compositions as well as fresh arrangements of standard jazz funk from Lady Zen performed in a decade.
This new album was presented for the first time at the Queretaro Jazz Festival on July 7, 2024 at the Plazuela Mariano de las Casas with hundreds of fans filling the center square of this iconic city.

It is a mix of poetry, hip hop, classic house and jazz mixed with ancestral beats. Urban Jazz is best described as more pocket-oriented and backbeat-driven genre but is technically more diverse like traditional jazz music fusing with the grooves found in the disciplines of funk and hip hop backed with the power of rock, soul, and rhythm and blues…’
Lady Zen (Alzenira Santos Amaral de Quezada / Lyricist / Poet / Composer / Maestra of Fine Arts) is a celebrated Urban Jazz artist and Lyric Fusion Poet. Appearing on the Billboard top 80 artists to watch in 2024. With a degree from Stonecoast MFA in Portland, Maine–Lady Zen is also a J. William Fulbright Scholar in Opera Performance from the University of Arkansas. They are the internationally known, celebrated, performing artist known as Lady Zen. An OG member of the West Coast Female Hip Hop Alliance. Mentored by American singer and poet Gil Scott-Heron performing with him in his last appearance in Baltimore. MD for Poets in the Park. Having been in the same spaces with jazz greats like Jimmy Smith, Ray Brown and Regina Carter; to sing with Oscar Peterson in private recitals. Having been invited to perform for George Clinton; sharing a stage with Glenn Close to sing a featured song. Appearing at the National Black Theater with original compositions and having played in Central Park on Center Stage. Proudly having been auditioned by John Maucheri, Amy Whinehouse and Tony Bennett. Lady Zen is a TEDx talk alumni, published author; and parent of lyric fusion poetry.
Zen is a producer, photographer and art director, currently residing in Mexico collaborating on works for the Marin Shakespeare Company and with other world renowned musicians. In 2023, Lady Zen starred in and wrote one of the most talked about movies in festival circulation that has won over 35 international awards in film making. Touring heavily post covid era, just returning from London, San Francisco, and Nashville. Lady Zen has been touring with the Royal Court Band in Mexico City, Queretaro, Guadalajara, Puerto Vallarta and San Miguel de Allende. Currently recording as The Royal Court Collective with El Negro Wadpro-(Jose Angel Blanco: Afro-Futuristic Producer, Composer / Master Beat Maker / Musician). A sixth generation ancestral beat priest living in Havana, visiting Mexico from a post-modern Cuba. Negro is known throughout Cuba and has appeared on multiple albums. The musical director for Fashion Week CDMX for Mercedes, 2024. Wadpro proudly represents his country in collaboration with renowned artists including Omara Portuondo, Jowee Omicil, Gabrielle Hernandez. Easily one of the coolest, talented MPC producers working to date. El Negro is in residency with his Afro-Furturist jams at Jazzitlain on Tuesday Nights and plays in several bands throughout Mexico.
